For any successful work done, there must be significant communication between the employer and employee. At times, achieving flawless transmission of information could be somewhat difficult, especially if you are not using the best equipment. If you are part of the management of a processing plant or mining site, here are some communication devices you could get your workers.
Thanks to man's inventions and innovations, the evolution of the cell phone has greatly improved communication all over the world. Nowadays, you can even use them in workplaces. Well, you may be a bit reluctant, thinking that workers won't concentrate on their jobs. That is not necessarily true. What you can do is have the smartphones integrated with software that inhibits transmission of signals beyond the site's or industry's perimeter. This would restrict communication to that particular area.
For more supervision and tracking, you can create a local area network containing all the mobile phones. In addition, you can also create a web-based database that everyone can access at all times. This will make the issuing of internal memos and passing of general instructions easier, thus saving time for productivity.
Half duplex two-way radios
These are not as sophisticated as smartphones, but they can do the job just right. Unlike an ordinary radio, the two-way can transmit and also receive information. They come in different varieties with the most common ones being the walkie-talkies. These devices are referred to as half-duplex because a person cannot speak and listen to another simultaneously. Even though they cannot be connected to a local area network, the content conveyed from one operator is heard by all the other workers. This makes it very easier for the management to pass general instructions. Other than that, two-way radios can also bring about openness and better work ethics, since there is full disclosure of information.
Helmet and Vest chips
These are miniature electronic communication chips that are fitted on the helmets or vests of the labourers. They are the best for maintaining workers' safety. The chips are equipped with technology that records the health status such as heart beat and body temperature. Other than that, it also denotes daily arrival and departure times. This information is then sent to the supervisor's computer, allowing him or her to monitor absenteeism. In the case of danger, the chip can also send alerts, making it safe for use in high-risk sites.Share
